Depending on the day, the weather (see earlier post) and the allergy season, i can feel less equiped to handle reference questions easily - okay the truth is downright inadequate! When a more difficult question comes up, the first thought that springs to mind (not mouth!) is "ahhh, just google to find your answer, i'm sure you'll find something! Then my librarian brain (good angel) kicks in and what comes out of my mouth or my fingertips is a better reply (let me see what databases might help answer your question).
Going thru my old emails (yes - akin to rolling a stone up a mountain) brought valuable information to the forefront of brain - The Invisible web - Remember when the concept came up? That not Everything was to be readily found on the internet, that information is contained within databases and search spiders don't necessarily search those databases so good information may not surface. For a good treatise on what the invisible web is, try visiting http://www.lib.berkeley.edu/TeachingLib/Guides/Internet/InvisibleWeb.html
For me, it's one more trick in my reference bag that i hope i can pull out and razzle dazzle the next patron with a long and detailed question!
What tips and tricks to reference work are in your bag?
