On a whim, I went web shopping. Maybe that sounds bad, but this whim was work - related, really!
as it became clear to me that our focus group participants went to the website to use the catalog and all of its features for accessing our materials, i began to think about what our website should look like. when i searched for website designs, one site came up that sells templates......now who would have thought...... i clicked and scrolled and ooh'd and aah'd over the myriad designs offered and began to formulate ideas for changes. What's in my head is very preliminary and is subject to change depending on answers from the survey that is posted on the website.
Have you seen the online survey? Initially it was going to mimic the face to face surveys, but it took a turn when i decided that we did not need to know more about what websites patrons find easy to use and why~~~how much more "google" can be thrown in our faces? instead i tried to prod and poke at the content, those original articles we write, those feature stories about cool things we're doing. They weren't mentioned much so i'm hoping for a better barometer of usage or like/dislike. If you have patrons interested in providing input, feel free to send 'em to the website. The survey will be up all month.
i'm going back to web shopping, it's kinda like shoe shopping. you may not necessarily know what color or style yr looking for but the shopping is fun!
